Quilts: 1700-2010

Last week I finally got to see the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Quilts: 1700-2010 exhibition, and I must say, it’s one of the best things I’ve seen in ages. There were so many diverse and beautiful items on display from Elizabeth Chapman’s amazingly intricate Wellington Coverlet (I just had to get a postcard of that one!) to Grayson Perry’s Right to Life, a creative, contemporary look at the abortion debate of 90′s America (you can see a close up here).

The exhibition is split into five subcategories: Making a Living, Meeting the Past, Virtue and Virtuosity, Private Thoughts/Political Debates and The Domestic Landscape and all of which harboured so many gems, a selection of which I will post below. If you can however, I’d strongly urge all to see the exhibition before it finishes on the 4th of July 2010.  Entry fee is a mere £10 (or £6 for us studenty types!). Ooh and from tomorrow onwards you can kill two birds with one stone by going to see the fabulous looking Grace Kelly: Style Icon exhibition also on at the V and A- couture Dior galore!
